A journey into the memory's lane

I would like to take you all in a journey in to the sixties and seventies - a time-band during which I grew up.But before that I would talk about Vintage days from the mouth of my 'grandees'.My father was an employee of a very generous company- TISCO (now TATS STEEL).A very educated executive who did his M.A.,LL.B. during the Pre- independence Era.My grand- father( had migrated originally from cuttack) was one of the first employees of TISCO. When it was started in 1907- some 107 years back.We had the only pucca house near Badampahar- a place from where TISCO used to mine-out iron ores.No trucks were available; hence Iron ore used to be bullock -curt(ed) up to the railway station. And we used to provide 300 bullock- carts from our village only. There were no fans in the office, so men were employed to pull hand -fans to blow air and make airy.Street lamps were lighted through a lamp-man who used to come in the evening to light those kerosene lamps. And that was early1900s from the mouth of my grand- father.
My maternal grand- father was a freedom fighter and the first medical graduate from National medical college -Calcutta.All through his life he clad(ed) 'KHADI Kurta' and 'DHOTI'.He always used to say to me -'do what your heart says'- quoting from the best of minds and also from his own experience...that not to stop and think about others- what people will say.....
'People will see what they are prepared to see.....
Everyone has problems, some are just better at hiding them....
There is suffering in life, and there are defeats. no one can avoid them but it is better to loose some of the battles in the struggles for your dreams then to be defeated without ever knowing what you are fighting for. Nothing is permanent in this world -not even our troubles Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself..and no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dream .Thus my mind- set is developed with this background of top- dogs and under-dogs...
I have few genuine friends and many blockers.Blockers give me pain and I prefer to walk in rains becoz I don't want anybody to see my tears .I thank my blockers instead, as they teach me to face, fight, survive and grow stronger.
Hope you liked this story. love you all

The Mathematics of Friendship: When Subtracting One Leaves Nothing

Friendship is often described as a bond that enriches our lives, adding depth, joy, and meaning to our existence. But what happens when that bond is broken? Is there an equation to describe the aftermath of losing a friend? Interestingly, there seems to be a unique arithmetic at play in friendships, where subtracting one friend can sometimes leave nothing behind. Friendship equations are not about numbers and formulas; they are about emotions, connections, and the complex interplay between individuals. Imagine a scenario where two friends, let's call them A and B, share a deep and meaningful connection. They laugh together, cry together, and support each other through thick and thin. Their friendship seems unbreakable, like an unending equation where the sum is always greater than its parts. However, life is unpredictable, and circumstances change. Perhaps A moves away, or B's priorities shift. Slowly, imperceptibly, the friendship begins to fade. Calls become less frequent, me...

Kuduchi(Hollerhena Antidysentrica)

In the woods of Odisha, then so lush and green, Lies a tale of a tree, the Kurchi, unseen. Its bark a remedy, magic for ailments severe, Healing the sick, bringing hope and cheer  Hush, my child, close your eyes so tight, Dream of the Kurchi tree, in the moon's soft light. Its branches swaying, in the gentle breeze, Whispering secrets, among the trees. As a boy of the sixties past and bye  Grew up listening granny s lullaby  Her knowledge so vast Of Kurchi's power, to cure and to mend, A home healer's legacy, from end to end. Into the forest, we would often roam, Gathering herbs, finding our home. Kurchi's white flowers, a fragrant delight, In the valley, a beautiful sight. But time marched on, and the trees did fade, The wisdom of old, began to cascade. The bark of Kurchi, for handia, we'd use, A drink of joy, no need to refuse. Handia, a brew, both old and young savored, A health tonic, in tradition, so favored. The Kurchi tree, a treasure profound, In every aspe...
